As an Aussie booklover, the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction is a book prize I keep my eye on each year because I truly trust reading recommendations that come from booksellers who live and breath books.
It was Thursday night and, unlike my usual routine of getting into my pyjamas with a cup of tea and relaxing on the couch, I was getting ready to catch the train into Fed Square to hear Janet Mock deliver her keynote address at Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF).
I’ve lived in Melbourne for three years now and in those three years, I’ve come to think of several bookshops as my little homes away from home. I often get asked by people who are planning to visit Melbourne which bookshops they should check out while they are here, and seeing as it was Love Your Bookshop Day (LYBD) recently, I thought it was about time I put some of my favourite bookshops into a blog post!
Today I just wanted to sit down with you guys and chat about the exciting things that have been happening lately, some upcoming bookish events to watch out for and to introduce you to some of our new-in candles, bookmarks and soap at Nook and Burrow. So grab a coffee and have a chat with me in the comments below.
The annual Booktube-a-thon is back! Booktube-a-thon is an amazing week-long reading marathon that is hosted by Ariel Bissett on YouTube. You don’t have to be a booktuber to take part, you just have to enjoy reading! Want to see which books are on my to-be-read (TBR) pile for the read-along? Here they are.
Books are friends. They are company. They are community. As readers, we spend enormous amounts of time with the characters and stories that are written between the pages of our books. The ideas that our favourite authors form in our minds, as readers, are powerful, important and often stay with us for the years that follow. That’s why, in today’s post, I am paying homage to and celebrating the authors and books that have given me comfort, community and have made me feel proud of who I am as a queer woman throughout my life so far.

So, if you’d like to find out which books I’ve been enjoying in the last month or so, here are four mini book reviews with links to the books included underneath the video! Enjoy xx
