If you’re a lover of all things cosy and Autumnal, then you’ll be as chuffed as I was to discover these lovely handcrafts from Once Upon a Whim.
Originating in Nelson, New Zealand, Once Upon a Whim was founded by Rebekah as a way to put her skills in knitting and crochet into good use. Now, I have also dabbled in a little bit of knitting in my time, and I must admit, it is not as easy as it looks! And my wares never came out as beautifully crafted as Rebekah’s!
The Once Upon a Whim Etsy shop is filled with gorgeously designed beanies (for both young and old. Seriously, check out this tiny beanie for bubs!), hot water bottle covers, toys and homewares, and even patterns so you can give crocheting a go at home.
My personal favourite (and something that is keeping my noggin extra cosy during these chilly Melbourne days), is the Mustard Fair Isle Beanie, which I refuse to take off – especially on those bad hair days, am I right? I adore the fit and stretch of the material, the colour and the crafts(woman)ship is second to none. I’ve got my eye on the same style in grey and white, it’s gorgeous! A huge thank you to Rebekah for making such a lovely item for me that I really cherish.
There’s something about someone creating goods from their own hands, using high quality materials, that is so cosy and comforting, especially during Autumn and Winter. If you’re into that as well, I highly recommend following Rebekah on her Instagram page @onceuponawhimnz, where she shares with her audience her latest wares – you’ll also get to see the gorgeous photographs of her baby daughter, who is so cute!
